Living by the letter of the law

What is living by "The works of the law/ the letter of the law?" [ Rom 9 : 32 ] " ...Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;" [ Gal 3:10-13 ] " For as many as are of the WORKS OF THE LAW are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continues not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

And the law is not of faith.....

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law,...."

What this means is an individual that is trying to live by and or become righteous by adhering to the principles and ordinances written on the pages of scripture. They also then think they're righteous for doing so, and that God will owe them eternal life as a result of them abiding by the Bible's written word. They are sadly mistaken. [ Job ] [Rom 6:23] Eternal life is a gift.

[Gal 2:16-21] " Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified..........(21) I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain."

If you could obtain salvation by your own so-called righteous acts, you wouldn't need a savior. The Lord already saved Job, when he told Satan he could do what he wanted to Job, but he could not kill him. [ Job 2 : 6-7 ]

[Colossians 2:14,8, 16-17, 20-21] " Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; (8) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after THE TRADITION OF MEN, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (16-17) Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come:....(20-21) Wherefore if you be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are you subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not;

[Rom 6:14] " For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under grace."

[ I John 3 : 4 ] ".... for sin is the transgression of the law."

[ Rom 4 : 15 ] Because the law works wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression." But shall we continue in wrong actions because we're no longer under the law? Certainly NOT! [ Rom 6 :15 ]

[Gal 5 :18] " But if you be led of the Spirit, you are not under the law."

[Eph 2:8-10] " For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

(9) Not of works, lest any man should boast.

(10) .....created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them."

[Rom 8:29-30] " For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

(30) Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified; and whom he justified, them he also glorified."

[ II Tim 2 : 15] " .......rightly dividing the word of truth."

[Job 42 : 5] " I have heard of you by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eyes see you. "
